Dina Thorslund vs Cherneka Johnson – Results & Post-Fight Report

-

Dina Thorslund got her hands on the undisputed world bantamweight title in dominant fashion in Florida, as she won every round to dethrone Cherneka Johnson over ten rounds in the main event of an MVP Promotions card.

Thorslund (25-0, KO9) was slated to meet Johnson (19-3, KO8) last July, but had to relinquish her WBC and WBO belts due to pregnancy, and made up for lost time here with a comprehensive win to take WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO straps.

Thorslund let her hands go from the off, backing Johnson up in the first couple of rounds with the champion unable to let her shots go to full effect, and the combination punches were working to perfection for the Dane, and she made a very busy and productive start.

A right hand landed flush for Thorslund in the fourth, and a right hand snapped the head back of Johnson a round later in what was becoming one-way traffic.

The combination punching was becoming too much for Johnson, as brave as she was, and although she had sporadic success, it just wasn’t enough to keep Thorslund at bay.

Johnson did let her hands go in the final three frames, but Thorslund has all the answers, and as the bout went to the final bell, the result was in no doubt.

This was confirmed with three tallies of 100-90 seeing Thorslund crowned undisputed champion.
